This does work, but it requires user interaction (pops up a dialog like in the AmCap example), whereas I'm looking to specify the video standard programmatically. adjusting values in this dialog may be needed at times to toggle between PAL (25 fps) and NTSC (29.97) input frame rates, sizes, interlacing, etc. It is a very fast video and audio converter and it can also acquire from a live. The -standard option does not exist, and the documentation does not provide any hints other than using the show_video_device_dialog option: FFmpeg is a solution to record, convert and stream audio and video.
